Lost Speed Demon – Speed for Everyday Waves
The Lost Speed Demon surfboard is designed for one thing: effortless speed in small and average conditions. Inspired by an original ’90s model developed with Dino Andino, this modern version brings that same fast, aggressive DNA into today’s surfing. Built to make weak waves fun, it allows you to generate speed easily, so you can flow, turn, and surf freely even when the conditions aren’t perfect.
Speed-Driven Design Inspired by Proven Concepts
The Speed Demon takes cues from some of Lost’s fastest designs, including lessons learned from the Rad Zapper. It features a low rocker, wide outline, and added volume, combined with a deep double concave that runs into the rails to maximize speed. A flatter deck and wider tail enhance stability and drive, while a subtle vee in the tail keeps the board responsive. The result is a balanced shape that delivers explosive speed without feeling extreme or difficult to surf.
Refined with Kolohe Andino for Real-World Surfing
Developed with input from Kolohe Andino, the Speed Demon was created to handle everyday surf, especially weak summer waves. The goal was simple: a board you can stand on and instantly go fast. Early prototypes received standout feedback, with Kolohe even saying it made him want to compete again. Combined with input from Nate Yeomans, the result is a small-wave performance shortboard that works for a wide range of surfers looking for speed, flow, and fun.
The new Lost Speed Demon carries a strong visual identity, featuring a vintage Mayhem logo and a raw, ‘90s-inspired aesthetic. While not a direct replica of the original, it captures the same spirit, a fast, aggressive board built to tear through soft, sloppy waves. Designed for lateral speed, sharp turns, and nonstop flow, the Speed Demon is the perfect everyday board for surfers who want to get the most out of any session.
Size & Volume Recommendations
The Lost Speed Demon is designed to be ridden with a bit more volume than your standard performance shortboard to maximise speed in weaker waves. As a general rule, you can go +1 to +3 liters above your usual shortboard volume for easier paddling and faster acceleration. Most surfers will benefit from riding it at a similar length to their daily board or slightly shorter, thanks to its added width and foam distribution. If you’re looking for maximum performance, stay closer to your standard size; if you want more forgiveness and glide, consider sizing up slightly.
Fin(s) included: None

About Lost Surfboards by Matt "Mayhem" Biolos
The Lost Surfboard brand began in 1985 with now legendary shaper Matt Biolos and a bunch of school friends started up 'team lost' that would spend their time between snowboarding at Mt. Baldy, skateboarding in Upland at the Pipeline and surfing Dana Point. Team Lost scribbled their name on books, shirts, tables and eventually, a clothing brand was born.
In 1987 Lost Head Shaper Matt Biolos began sanding surfboards fresh out of high school. Adopting the name "Mayhem" (an ode to the second model he shaped).
Matt 'Mayhem' Biolos shaped 20 boards his first year. Not too many people were ordering boards from “Mayhem” yet, so to make money he continued to sand surfboards and began to paint designs on them along with a handwritten LOST wherever he could.
Surfers like Christian Fletcher and Matt Archbold were getting Biolos paint jobs. Working with some big shaping names in the California scene like Timmy Patterson, Jim Fuller, Terry Senate, and Randy Sleigh and getting plenty of feedback from top surfers, his shaping ability was able to develop and from there grew the Lost Brand into a world wide phenomenon.

A quick note about our photos!
We use a mix of official brand images and real-life shots from our warehouse to help you make an informed decision.
That said, what you see might differ slightly from what you receive — simply because we can't photograph every possible variation.
For example, a photo might show a 6'2 board with Futures fin boxes, while you've selected a 5'10 with FCS II. Don’t worry — you’ll get exactly what you ordered.
Sometimes, small details like the logo, its placement or overall colour tones can vary slightly depending on the production batch, camera, lighting, or even your screen settings.
These are always only minor differences, and in most cases, the photos are spot on - but we totally get that buying online can feel tricky. If you ever want more details, just drop us a message — we're happy to help!
