“Bought the 6’3 for my kid. Ended up keeping it in the truck and using it myself”
The Mod Fish perfectly bridges the gap between a midlength and shortboard. The overall stability and feel is reassuring. Fishes are wide with a full nose, creating fast paddling and stability – great for catching waves and generating speed on the wave.
When ridden shorter than a midlength they offer much better manouverability. The tail plan shape and double concave allow tighter turning for vertical surfing and cutbacks into the pocket.
The Mod Fish is a great in most types of waves and conditions, from knee high to overhead and clean to messy.
Fin(s) included: Soft fin set.
Construction - Soft Deck
The original Torq construction – with an extra EVA foam skin on the deck.
We take a fully completed TET surfboard - with the same shape, lay-up, fin system and shield skin, then we add a foam deck skin.
What are the benefits?
TET is our strongest construction, lightweight and great to surf. For surf school or surf hire, these boards are extremely durable.
The EVA foam skin is soft so it’s safer if you get hit by it, which is good when learning to surf. It’s also grippy – we used a textured EVA – so it doesn’t need wax. Good for hot climates and less mess.
It adds a bit a volume, especially on the rail – a fuller rail is more stable. More volume is more floaty for better paddling.
How do they surf?
Torq Softdeck is a real surfboard underneath - a proper hard board designed for surfing. The surf performance is essentially the same as a TET with a nice light neutral feel – responsive but forgiving.
A quick note about our photos!
We use a mix of official brand images and real-life shots from our warehouse to help you make an informed decision.
That said, what you see might differ slightly from what you receive — simply because we can't photograph every possible variation.
For example, a photo might show a 6'2 board with Futures fin boxes, while you've selected a 5'10 with FCS II. Don’t worry — you’ll get exactly what you ordered.
Sometimes, small details like the logo, its placement or overall colour tones can vary slightly depending on the production batch, camera, lighting, or even your screen settings.
These are always only minor differences, and in most cases, the photos are spot on - but we totally get that buying online can feel tricky. If you ever want more details, just drop us a message — we're happy to help!
